Unit 8

I think out of all of the exercises the one that I liked the most was the subtle mind.  I enjoyed the sounds, there was no one talking the whole time.  I found it very soothing.  It was easier to focus.  I felt more relaxed.
The other one would be the meditation/mindfulness.  Like I said in my last blog, I have been doing this more at night and it has been helping me to sleep, but I am still getting these vivid dreams. I wonder if it is cleaning it out :).

I will try to keep implementing these practices throughout to keep my mental fitness.

  1. Hi Jennifer,

It is interesting how different techniques work for everyone. I personally was not successful with the Subtle Mind exercise. I couldn't put full intention in my quieting of the mind with someone constantly talking. I do appreciate having a narrator to help me guide me through the process, but just not a constant voice.

Perhaps you are getting more vivid dreams due to making a connection with your inner self and you are more conscious about you thoughts and feelings.

  2. Hi Jennifer,
I am happy to hear these exercises are helping you sleep at night...sleep is such a good thing:)! Keeping our mental fitness is easy said than done, it takes much effort and commitment but is worth it in the end. I also found it more beneficial to practice keeping up on my mental fitness right before bed time because that is the time where I can actually relax and quiet my mind,

You said you found meditation beneficial, have you tried yoga before? I have been wanting to try yoga for awhile now because it poses so many great benefits, both physically and mentally!

  3. Jennifer,

I am glad that the subtle mind exercise was your favorite. As for my favorite it would be the visualization exercise because it just made me feel so happy. I am glad these exercises are helping you with everything and with sleep. It probably is true what you said about your vivid dreams and that they are being cleared out. Good luck with everything!

Great to hear that you chose subtle mind as your favorite practice during this course. just like you I also chose meditation because i enjoy the way I can clear my mind of any thoughts during that set amount of time I have allowed or myself. To piggy back on Joncie statement about yoga, it is great physically and mentally but for me being a 200lb dude I found some of the moves to be a bit hard. I think that yoga is great for a lot of people and if I could do it I really would.

  5. Hi Jennifer
I also like the subtle mind exercise. I see this as the first door we have to go through to start to "see" our inner self. We have to remove all of the distraction to open up enough to see within. This is a constant struggle with me but it is well worth the effort. Plus I get the instant satisfaction when successful at clearing my mind for a time. Keep up the good work.
